As someone who loves fresh starts, especially the feel of a crisp new notebook and a blank calendar, New Year’s Day is the ultimate clean slate. But oh-my-goodness—expectations can also run unreasonably high.
To make the most of this moment, spending time on reflection and intention setting can be much more beneficial than generating a long list of lofty resolutions. Since 2012, my absolute favorite tool to guide this process is a free resource curated by over 500 volunteers from 61 countries (and available in 52 languages!): the YearCompass.
This lovely little booklet can be downloaded in a print-friendly format or as a fillable PDF. The pages provide helpful prompts to reflect on our successes and sorrows and everything else that has happened in the past year, as well as thoughtful questions to set out a hopeful path for the year ahead.
I’ve just sent an order to the printer—even as a mostly digital-first gal there are some things I love do with pen and paper!—and blocked out time on my calendar during the first two weeks of December to cozy-up with my copy and would love to hear from you if decide to close-out 2023 and welcome in 2024 working through its pages, too.
This year's twist… and an invitation
After toying with the idea for the past decade, this year I've also committed to crafting additional prompts specific to my business and experience as an entrepreneur. If you'd like a bit of support ensuring you actually take the time to work through the pages of the YearCompass, subscribe here for a series of bite-sized, daily prompts that divvy-up the 20-page booklet into a two-week experience. After subscribing, you'll receive an email confirming that you've successfully signed-up and then one new email every day for the next fourteen days.
If you're a member of our Business, money & mindset coaching for courageous, enterprising women community on Facebook, I'll also be posting the prompts there and going live each day beginning Dec. 1, 2023. If you're reading this after December 1, you can still participate and the fourteen-day series of emails will start whenever you sign-up!
Whether you join us for the email series, live sessions, or work through the pages of the YearCompass independently in whatever way works best for you, I'm sending you a virtual high-five for gifting yourself the chance to reflect on the past year and set your intentions for 2024. I can't wait to see what's in store for you!
